We are pleased to announce that our colleague, Dr Žiko Milanović, a research associate at the Institute of Information Technology, University of Kragujevac, found himself on the prestigious list of 2% of the most influential scientists in the world for 2024 in the field of chemistry (DOI: 10.17632/btchxktzyw.8).
This list, published annually by Stanford University in collaboration with publisher Elsevier and the Scopus database, is based on rigorous citation metrics and is a unique indicator of global scientific impact. Parameters such as the number of citations, h-index, composite c-score, and the position of the author in the publications (first, last, or co-author) are taken into account. The special value of the list is reflected in the fact that it provides insight into scientific contribution at the level of 22 scientific fields and 174 narrower fields.
The 2024 award represents an exceptional achievement for both the researcher himself and the Institute and the University as a whole. Dr. Žiko Milanović is recognized as one of the leading young scientists in the field of theoretical and computational chemistry. His work stands out in defining the mechanisms of antioxidant action of various polyphenolic compounds through quantum-chemical calculations, while additionally encompassing the application of modern computational methods and software tools for molecular docking and molecular dynamics. Thus, he makes a significant contribution to the assessment of inhibitory potential and the rational design of new drugs intended to combat neurodegenerative diseases.
