Dr. Edina Avdović, Senior Research Associate, Institute of Information Technologies, and Project Manager of GraSP_MAT within the PROMIS 2023 Program and GraSP within the Proof of Concept Program, Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia, gave a notable lecture to the teaching and research staff at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Sarajevo, entitled "Unleashing the potential of nature: grape skins as a source of bioactive components and their application in the pharmaceutical and food industry".
During her presentation, Dr. Avdović presented some of the research results achieved within the aforementioned projects, with a focus on the innovative use of grape skin extracts originating from Serbia. These extracts, rich in bioactive compounds with pronounced antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties, are being investigated as ingredients for the development of new materials – primarily hydrogel formulations intended for
x treatment of chronic wounds, as well as innovative functional food products.
The lecture aroused great interest and opened up opportunities for future scientific and professional cooperation.
