statistical genetics, and modern approaches to biomedical data analysis<\/em><\/p><p>Dr. Jasmina Obradovi\u0107, Senior Research Associate, a researcher at the Institute for Information Technologies, University of Kragujevac, participated in the <strong>2nd InnoThyroGen Summer School of Bioinformatics<\/strong>, held from 8 to 12 September 2026 at the Institute of Molecular Genetics and Genetic Engineering, University of Belgrade. The Summer School was organized as part of the Horizon Europe-funded <strong>InnoThyroGen project<\/strong>, which focuses on advancing innovative and personalized approaches to thyroid disease diagnosis and treatment.<\/p><p>The program was designed as an intensive, hands-on, interdisciplinary training focused on statistical genetics and genetic epidemiology. Participants developed practical knowledge in the Linux command line and R programming, statistical foundations for genetic studies, as well as analytical approaches used in Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS) and Polygenic Risk Scores (PRS). The program also covered advanced methodologies, including population structure analysis, functional annotation, meta-analysis, machine learning, and Mendelian randomization, with particular attention to their potential applications in personalized medicine. Beyond the technical training, the Summer School provided an opportunity for participants to exchange experiences, interact with invited experts, and establish connections with researchers working across different scientific disciplines.<\/p><p>Dr. Jasmina Obradovi\u0107\u2019s participation in this international training program represents a valuable opportunity to further strengthen her expertise in bioinformatics and advanced biomedical data analysis.
