Participation in the Fourth Congress of Biology of Serbia<br \/><\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p><p>The <strong>Fourth Congress of Biology of Serbia<\/strong>, organized by the Serbian Biological Society, was held in Div\u010dibare from September 16 to 20, 2026. The congress brought together researchers, teachers, professors, and young scientists from various fields of biological sciences, with the aim of presenting current scientific findings, exchanging knowledge and experience, and fostering collaboration within the biological science community.<\/p><p>Over the course of five days of scientific activities, the program featured plenary lectures, oral and poster presentations, thematic discussions, and round-table sessions. The Congress program covered ten thematic areas, including biomedicine and translational sciences, biophysics and bioinformatics, genetics, molecular and cell biology, microbiology and immunology, as well as other fields of modern biology.<\/p><p>As part of the scientific program, Jovana Mati\u0107, a researcher at the Institute, presented the study entitled <em>\u201cChemical Profile and Biomedical Potential of Xerocomus subtomentosus: In Vitro Evaluation of Antihyperglycemic and Neuroprotective Activity.\u201d<\/em> The study investigated the chemical composition and biomedical potential of a methanolic extract of the fruiting bodies of this species.<\/p><p>The congress was also attended by Andrija Nikoli\u0107, a Ministry of Science scholarship recipient and a PhD student in Biology, who is conducting his research at the Institute. He presented a study entitled <em>\u201cEffects of the Herbicide Equip on the Earthworm Eisenia fetida (Savigny, 1826) under Laboratory Conditions.\u201d<\/em><\/p><p>Participation in scientific conferences such as this represents an important part of professional and scientific development, while also providing valuable opportunities for establishing new contacts, exchanging knowledge, and
