Brief description of the research

In the previous period, Katarina G. Marković was engaged in scientific research, where she examined the biochemical and physiological characteristics of enterobacteria from indigenous fermented milk products, as well as in vitro testing of biofilms and resistance of enterobacteria. Research has also been extended to in vitro testing of the ability of enterobacteria to produce biogenic amines, as well as the hemolysis ability of selected strains.

He is also actively involved in phytochemical, antioxidant, antimicrobial and antibiofilm testing of plant extracts. In addition to the aforementioned research, a new direction of research has been initiated regarding green synthesis, i.e. the formation of biologically active nanoparticles with the help of plants. The green synthesis of nanoparticles using silver nitrate and an aqueous extract of a selected plant is planned, as well as the verification of the formed nanoparticles by SEM and TEM microscopy.

In addition to microscopy, the formation of nanoparticles will be monitored by spectrophotometric methods. In addition to the aqueous extract, the acetone extract will be investigated, as well as the formed silver nanoparticles with the help of the extract. The research will be expanded to examine the biological potential of nanoparticles.
