Jana Baščarević
Brief description of the research
Jane Baščarević's research work is primarily focused on the development of new functional biomaterials for biomedical applications, such as scaffolds for tissue engineering, wound dressings, and controlled drug delivery systems.
Special attention is paid to the application of electrospinning technology to obtain nanofibers based on various synthetic and natural polymers. Experimental work includes process optimization (influence of process parameters, solution parameters and environmental parameters ), detailed characterization of the structure, morphology and chemical composition of the fibers (SEM, TEM, spectroscopic techniques), as well as functionalization of nanofibers by incorporating drugs, cells, enzymes and other agents in order to improve performance.
In addition, the research includes testing the cytotoxicity, biocompatibility, conductivity, mechanical and other properties of the synthesized materials, in accordance with their planned application. Part of the research also relates to the application of artificial intelligence, through the development of neural network models for predicting the morphological characteristics of electrospun fibers, which allows for faster and more efficient process planning.
