У оквиру научног програма, др Владимир Симић, научни сарадник, представио је рад „Development of a CT-Based Patient-Specific Finite Element Model for Evaluating Cervical Spine Biomechanics in Degenerative Cervical Myelopathy“.

Др Богдан Милићевић, научни сарадник, представио је рад „A Comparative Analysis of Deep Learning Models for Automated Cervical Spinal Cord Segmentation“, посвећен примени и поређењу модела дубоког учења за аутоматизовану сегментацију кичмене мождине на медицинским снимцима.

Institute Researchers Present Their Research at Neurooncology 2026 Congress in Niš

Advancing biomedical engineering, computational modelling, and artificial intelligence in medicine

Researchers from the Institute for Information Technologies, University of Kragujevac, participated in the 12th Annual Meeting of the Serbian Neurosurgical Society with International Participation – Neurooncology 2026, held from 10 to 13 September 2026 in Niš. Under the theme “Think Global, Act Local: Challenges and Solutions”, the congress brings together experts and researchers in neurosurgery, neuro-oncology, neurology, oncology, and related scientific disciplines, providing a platform for the exchange of recent scientific knowledge and the presentation of contemporary approaches to neurological disorders.

As part of the scientific program, Dr. Vladimir Simić, Research Associate, presented the paper “Development of a CT-Based Patient-Specific Finite Element Model for Evaluating Cervical Spine Biomechanics in Degenerative Cervical Myelopathy.” The study focuses on developing a patient-specific CT-based model of the cervical spine and applying the finite element method to evaluate biomechanical characteristics associated with degenerative cervical myelopathy. This approach has the potential to contribute to a more precise understanding of individual biomechanical characteristics and support further research into personalized approaches in medicine.

Dr. Bogdan Milićević, Research Associate, presented “A Comparative Analysis of Deep Learning Models for Automated Cervical Spinal Cord Segmentation,” focusing on the application and comparison of deep learning models for the automated segmentation of the spinal cord in medical imaging. By combining artificial intelligence methods with medical image analysis, the research contributes to the development of advanced approaches for automated processing and interpretation of data relevant to contemporary medical diagnostics and research.

The participation of Institute researchers in this international scientific meeting represents an important contribution to the dissemination of research findings in interdisciplinary fields connecting natural and technical sciences with medicine. It also provides an opportunity to exchange knowledge with national and international experts, follow current developments in the field, and establish new professional and research collaborations.
