На Дивчибарама је од 16. до 20. септембра 2026. године одржан Четврти конгрес биолога Србије, у организацији Српског биолошког друштва. Конгрес је окупио истраживаче, наставнике, професоре и младе научнике из различитих области биолошких наука, са циљем представљања актуелних научних резултата, размене искустава и подстицања сарадње у оквиру биолошке научне заједнице.
Током пет дана научног програма одржана су пленарна предавања, усмена и постер саопштења, као и тематске дискусије и округли столови. Програм Конгреса обухватио је десет тематских области, међу којима су биомедицина и транслационе науке, биофизика и биоинформатика, генетика, молекуларна и ћелијска биологија, микробиологија и имунологија, као и друге области савремене биологије.
У оквиру научног програма, истраживачица Института Јована Матић, представила је рад „Хемијски профил и биомедицински потенцијал Xerocomus subtomentosus: in vitro процена антихипергликемијске и неуропротективне активности“, у којем су испитани хемијски састав и биомедицински потенцијал метанолног екстракта плодних тела ове врсте.
На конгресу је учешће узео и колега Андрија Николић, стипендиста министарства науке и студент докторских студија биологије који ради истраживање на Институту, са радом под насловом „Утицај хербицида еквипа на глисту Eisenia fetida (Savigny, 1826) у лабораторијским условима“.
Учешће на оваквим научним скуповима представља важан део професионалног и научног усавршавања, као и прилику за успостављање нових контаката и развој будуће научне сарадње.

Researchers’ Participation in the Fourth Congress of Biology of Serbia
The Fourth Congress of Biology of Serbia, organized by the Serbian Biological Society, was held in Divčibare from September 16 to 20, 2026. The congress brought together researchers, teachers, professors, and young scientists from various fields of biological sciences, with the aim of presenting current scientific findings, exchanging knowledge and experience, and fostering collaboration within the biological science community.
Over the course of five days of scientific activities, the program featured plenary lectures, oral and poster presentations, thematic discussions, and round-table sessions. The Congress program covered ten thematic areas, including biomedicine and translational sciences, biophysics and bioinformatics, genetics, molecular and cell biology, microbiology and immunology, as well as other fields of modern biology.
As part of the scientific program, Jovana Matić, a researcher at the Institute, presented the study entitled “Chemical Profile and Biomedical Potential of Xerocomus subtomentosus: In Vitro Evaluation of Antihyperglycemic and Neuroprotective Activity.” The study investigated the chemical composition and biomedical potential of a methanolic extract of the fruiting bodies of this species.
The congress was also attended by Andrija Nikolić, a Ministry of Science scholarship recipient and a PhD student in Biology, who is conducting his research at the Institute. He presented a study entitled “Effects of the Herbicide Equip on the Earthworm Eisenia fetida (Savigny, 1826) under Laboratory Conditions.”
Participation in scientific conferences such as this represents an important part of professional and scientific development, while also providing valuable opportunities for establishing new contacts, exchanging knowledge, and fostering future scientific collaboration.
