The Serbian Society for Chemoinformatics and Molecular Modeling (SSCIMM) was founded.

At the founding assembly held on January 16, 2026, attended by researchers from several universities, faculties and scientific institutes, including the Institute of Information Technology Kragujevac, the Serbian Society for Chemoinformatics and Molecular Modeling (SSCIMM) was officially founded, a new national scientific and professional association dedicated to the development and promotion of chemoinformatics, molecular modeling and related computational methods in chemistry, biology and biomedicine. Dr. Žiko Milanović, a research associate at our Institute, was elected President of the Society. The Society brings together researchers from several academic and scientific centers in Serbia, including Kragujevac, Belgrade, Novi Sad, Niš and Novi Pazar, with the aim of improving interdisciplinary cooperation, knowledge exchange and strengthening the visibility of these fields in the domestic and international scientific space. The establishment of SSCIMM has created an institutional framework for connecting experts involved in the development and application of computational methods in the study of molecular systems, the design of new materials and bioactive compounds, and the analysis of large data sets in chemistry and related sciences. The planned activities of the Society include the organization of professional meetings, workshops and educational programs, support for young researchers, as well as cooperation with universities, research institutes and international scientific organizations. The establishment of the Serbian Society for Chemoinformatics and Molecular Modeling represents a significant step towards the systemic development of modern computational approaches in chemical and biomedical research in Serbia.
