Dr Marina Kostić
Brief description of the research
In the previous period, Dr. Marina Kostić's research was focused on developing methods for the synthesis of various heterocyclic compounds with an organoselenium moiety in their structure, investigating the kinetics and mechanisms of selenocyclization reactions, as well as coordinating these compounds with transition metals and investigating their biological activities. Current research is focused on developing and optimizing methods for the synthesis of various Schiff bases from biogenic amines and amino acids with organoselenium fragments, as molecules with potential pharmacological potential. Special attention is paid to investigating antimicrobial and antitumor activity on various cancer cell lines, as well as interactions with BSA and DNA, with docking simulations for a better understanding of biological activity at the molecular level. Further coordination of these ligands with transition metals and investigating their biological properties are also planned.
