Dr Jelena Katanić Stanković
Brief description of the research
The research focus of Dr. Katanić Stanković is on the phytochemical and pharmacological characterization of extracts of medicinal plants, fruits of indigenous varieties and their products. In addition, other biologically active natural products are being investigated as potential sources of new medicinal active principles and dietary supplements.
The phytochemical profile is analyzed using modern chromatographic methods, such as HPTLC, HPLC, LC-MS and GC-MS. The biological and pharmacological potential of the samples is examined in various systems, in vitro, in vivo and in silico conditions, with a special focus on antioxidant activity, redox status and anti-inflammatory effects.
Further research will, among other things, be aimed at examining the impact of selected medicinal plant species in the prevention and treatment of gynecological diseases, as well as their effects on the reproductive system as a whole.
The ultimate goal is to achieve products with high biological potential that can be applied in the prevention or treatment of various diseases, as well as in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic and food industries.
