Brief description of the research
Katarina's primary research area is focused on examining the biological activity of various chemical compounds and natural products, with an emphasis on anticancer activity against various types of cancer.
The research focus is on evaluating the mechanisms of anticancer activity – cytotoxicity, antimigratory and antiinvasive potential, as well as suppression of neoangiogenesis – at the gene and protein levels. A significant aspect of her work is the development and application of the zebrafish model system in toxicological research.
